My Review on: Kick-Ass 1 & 2

Oh boy, a double feature finally! This was actually some what intentional, saw the first one and didn't realize that the release date for 2 wasn't too far away so I decided to wait to post both reviews at the same time in one post. So let's get on with it!

Kick-Ass

Getting in to the first few minutes of the movie it actually takes on reality of being a hero quite well, the consequences, the limitations, and punishments of being a hero. Although after Dave gets beat up and hit by a car fit in awkwardly. I say that because the car looked fake when it first drove in and hit Dave as he tried to limp away. The fighting scenes fit in fluently enough to be okay, which is a bit of a problem seeing as how the movie is about heroes who are expected to fight and protect. Other than that I don't have many complaints, except maybe Kick-Ass' costume looks like he's going scuba diving through seaweed. Wrapping this one up, 8.5/10.

Kick-Ass 2

First off, dat lack of appearance continuity. Seriously, Mindy grew up fast in less than a year (She started as a freshman at the end of 1 and still is during 2), same with Chris going from no facial hair to having a goatee. Though in this one the innuendos and sexual jokes were a little more evident, especially the dick jokes that just threw themselves out there and shouted it to the world. Moving aside from the jokes to costume designs, Chris could have stuck with the name Red Mist but instead he thought it was too heroic so instead he went with an idiotic name: the Motherfucker. Go watch the movie or read the comic, I'm dead serious that he does and it's stupid. But Chris doesn't stop there with just his name, his entire villain theme is things you wouldn't say in public, the group name, Toxic Mega Cunts, gave that away nicely. Didn't really care for much of the other designs of the villains other than Mother Russia's design. Speaking of, she really pulled her weight on the team, almost like she made up the entire team just by herself which she could have easily done.
Back to designs, the only one that I really cared for on the hero's side was Kick-Ass's second version which just has Big Daddy's armour added. The fight scenes worked fluently though at some points you could see the slowness of weapons and how it wouldn't hurt if hit by it, but they worked fluent enough other than those parts. The big battle between the two towards the end was where the slow down showed the most. Speaking of that battle, Mother Russia's fall to Hit-Girl worked really awkwardly. It's understandable that she was just injected with adrenaline and Hit-Girl was moving too fast for Mother Russia to attack or fight back but that doesn't mean she won't flinch when stabbed by glass; unless she was that hardened where she wouldn't flinch even after being impaled which would be absurd amounts of overpower. Wrapping this one up, 8.5/10.
